You are perfectly welcome to disagree with my views, but why claim that we are 'carried away by such cliched teenage hormonal torments'? Yes, teenage angst has been dealt with in myriad films. Perhaps better, perhaps worse. Doesn't make this film not worth watching. Besides, I'm not holding a gun to anyone's head to make them watch OR like the film. I'm saying I liked it, and here's why.

Besides, if Rituparno Ghosh (Mr/Ms?? As far as I know, he self-identifies as male, so why the snark?) was to 'watch or read and learn' you would probably have accused him of imitating someone else. This is his vision; as a viewer, I was satisfied. You are free to disagree/dislike/ not watch/be bored/think something else is better.Anu Warrierhttp://anuradhawarrier.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2309362817539389132.post-25860946698615338222012-12-10T10:51:00.814-05:002012-12-10T10:51:00.814-05:00I sheepishly differ from you all. I mean how do buy this every time? Watch or read(the latter is more recommended) Araby and learn, Mr./Mrs. Ghosh. Pangs of adolescence can be treated in a much mature way. And, I'm bored of Aparna Sen's same act as a modern Bengali woman; I have seen her in at least 6 different films in similar roles from the all too 'intellectual' Antaheen to Iti Mrinalini. Any way, I will sign off with a joke: Sen recently compared her Iti Mrinalini to the Ray masterpiece Nayak!!
Peace.
AD abhishek denoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2309362817539389132.post-24561502153372075222012-12-09T17:10:22.240-05:002012-12-09T17:10:22.240-05:00Yes, I thought of you when I saw this. :)Yes, I thought of you when I saw this. :)Anu Warrierhttp://anuradhawarrier.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2309362817539389132.post-90883949888674798052012-12-09T15:39:03.525-05:002012-12-09T15:39:03.525-05:00...I just blushed at everything in the top part of......I just blushed at everything in the top part of the review. RAJESH KHANNA. DILIP KUMAR. And of course, being crazy over an actor. (Oh heck yes, I'd do that with any magazine I can get my hands on, but Filmfare magazines are WAY too precious to cut.) Come to think of it, I'd probably have behaved like that if I lived in the 60's. I'd HOARD film merchandise, yes. :P

But yes, this does sound like a film that I'd watch, well, once I get the time. Too many movies to watch! Firstly, because delayering of a complex subject, like human emotions, on a visual medium in itself requires a lot of that ‘extra’. And then, interpretation of emotions is always very subjective. So there is no ‘one-lens-fits’-all’ formula available that can help the viewers see the director’s point of view as he/she understands and presents.
However, form a very balanced, incisive and fairly in-depth review, one would be induced to make a go at seeing the film and then judge the efforts by own self, and may be re-view the review here, too.
Whilst on the subject of Rituparno Ghosh, I recall my feelings when I saw “Memories in March”. I started seeing the film with the expectations that someone who has not seen Rituparno films – be prepared to tackle quite complex situations. The film also has a young protagonist – Rima Sen and a senior protagonist – Dipti Naval to provide a vast spectrum to of view to the subject of film.
Well, the film does satisfy, but leaves a feeling that a ‘something’ of ‘little more’ could have done a better justice.Ashok M Vaishnavhttp://amvaishnav.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2309362817539389132.post-78107771069744163312012-12-07T21:52:31.861-05:002012-12-07T21:52:31.861-05:00 You are welcome, Harvey. It sounds charming. When you talked about the meeting between two old lovers I thought of "Ijaazat", where Rekha dries Nasir's wet hair and hands him a matchbox. Highly evocative, because very real.Nalininoreply@blogger.com
