This is not something I usually do - recommend a book without having read it, but I have read their first book - RD Burman - The Man, The Music (Anirudha Bhattacharjee and Balaji Vittal) - a well-researched, well-written book that deservedly won a National Award, and enjoyed it very much.
So when Anirudha, a friend of a friend, reached out to me asking if I would mind plugging their latest offering on my blog, I didn't hesitate. If Gaate Rahe Mera Dil is
half as well-researched and well-written, it would be a great addition
to anyone's library of books on cinema, particularly Hindi film music.
And because it goes without saying that this book will eventually find a place on my bookshelf, right next to their book on RD, I have no compunction in recommending it to my readers, sight unseen.
Ah, yes. I saw Anirudha mention this on Facebook. I have so many books waiting to be read right now, however (three that I've promised their authors I'll review, one which I have to review for a newspaper, and hundreds I just want to read for the sake of it) that I don't know when I'm going to get around to it! :-(
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, I know the feeling! This one, I would like to get my hands on.
ReplyDeleteMadhulika, still waiting for you to read my RD book. It is now 4 years ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Anirudha - about the only books I'm reading these days are ones for which I've been sent review copies, or which have been gifted to me! I don't remember the last time I bought a book. Have your publisher send me a review copy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMadhulika, please message me your address and phone no on facebook messanger.I'll send across a copy :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the book on RD. Tried to buy Gaata Rahe on Amazon (US). Not available. Sad. :-(
ReplyDeleteIt's only being released, Soumya. End-June, I think. I'm waiting for it as well.
ReplyDelete*Reading my post again, I see that it is not clear. Let me change that.
